” The War Diary of Isabelle Lipp 1899-1900”
Coming Soon:
Isabelle and husband Charles were permitted to remain in Johannesburg while friends and family left for the coast, many in cattle tracks, scared of the great guns glaring down on them from the Johannesburg fort. Relying only on news from pro-Boer newspapers, she learned of Boer victories and sieges. It was worrying and depressing as were the pets which has been abandoned and the women both Boer and black who suffered great privations with no income and no jobs.
Cost R170 collected from our office. Call (011) 482-3349 to make arrangements if you can ’t collect between 9am and 1.00pm.
Diary of Isabelle Lipp was published in May for the 110th anniversary of the surrender of Johannesburg,
by the Boers to the British.
